In 1984, Apple introduced a computer to the rest of us. They did it by talking to engineers about people, instead of teaching people about engineering. Forty-two years on, the machines learned to talk back. We are the ones being asked to keep up.

We are Generation Z. We started People + Planet because we believe technology should still answer to its founding purpose. That purpose is, almost always, a person. A community. A planet still humming to its own rhythm.

Benjamin Franklin owned slaves once. He changed his mind. Late in his years he led the Pennsylvania Abolition Society and petitioned Congress to end the trade altogether.

He helped draft the Declaration of Independence. He founded a university and a free library, because he believed an educated people is a free people. He invented for the joy of it. He negotiated peace with empires. He stood, in the end, for ingenuity, diplomacy, and education. He believed, plainly, that people can become better than they once were.

A hundred and fifty years on, Franklin Delano Roosevelt named four freedoms for a world still becoming itself. Speech. Worship. Freedom from fear. Freedom from want. The fourth one has been the slowest to arrive.

The phone in your pocket. The shirt on your back. The food on your table. None of it is neutral. Every link in every chain has a person at the end. The International Labour Organization estimates fifty million people are in some form of forced labour or modern slavery today. We do not call them slaves. We call them suppliers. The number does not change because of the language we use for it.

And data is now the most valuable currency in the world. It moves every minute, mostly without our knowing. It is bought, sold, and traded across borders most of us will never cross. It needs protecting. And we have to go fix humanity.
